Kinn Municipality (1838-1964)
Kinn is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in the Sunnfjord district of Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. The prestegjeld, parish of Kinn has existed for centuries and in 1838, the large parish was established as a municipality that existed from then until 1964. The municipality was centered around the Kinn (island), island of Kinn where the main Kinn Church is located. The municipality encompassed most of the southern part of the present-day municipality of Kinn (same name, different borders) as well as parts of Askvoll (in the south) and the southwestern part of Bremanger (in the north). Upon its dissolution in 1964, it covered . On 1 January 2020, the old ''Kinn'' name was brought back into use when the municipalities of Flora, Norway and Vågsøy merged, creating a new Kinn Municipality. Nordfjord
Nordfjord (—in contrast to Sunnfjord) is a traditional district in Vestland county, Norway. Geography The region is located in the northern part of Vestland county in Western Norway. It centers on the Nordfjorden and it comprises Stad Municipality, Kinn Municipality, Bremanger Municipality, Gloppen Municipality, and Stryn Municipality. The Nordfjord region covers an area of about and is home to a population (2015) of approximately 32,838. The fjord is the sixth longest in Norway stretching from the island of Husevågøy at the mouth to the village of Loen at the other end. Nyttingnes is a hamlet with 28 inhabitants and 9 houses in the municipality of Kinn in Vestland county, Norway. Tennebø
Tennebø is a village in Kinn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is a suburb of the town of Måløy, the centre of which is located about away. The village of Deknepollen, another suburb of Måløy lies about to the northwest. The lake Degnepollvatnet is just north of the village of Tennebø. Silda (Sogn Og Fjordane)
Silda is an island in Kinn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island is located northeast of the large island of Vågsøy in the Sildagapet bay and about west of the island of Barmøya. Silda sits about east of the small village of Langenes and about northeast of Raudeberg, both on the island of Vågsøy. This island is the site of the 1810 Battle of Silda. In 2014, there were 12 inhabitants on the island, which is only accessible by boat. Name The name of the island comes from the Norwegian language word ''sild'' which means herring, since herring fishing has been important in the region for centuries. Refvika
Refvik or Refvika is a village in Kinn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located on the north side of the island of Vågsøy, about northwest of the village of Raudeberg, south of Vedvika, and southwest of Langenes. The village of Kvalheim is located to the southwest on the other side of a mountain. The village lies between the lake Refvikvatnet and the ocean. Raudeberg
Raudeberg is a village in Kinn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located on the east side of the island of Vågsøy. The villages of Refvika, Vedvika, and Langeneset are located a few kilometers to the north, and the town of Måløy is about to the south. The island of Silda is located about offshore to the northeast of the village of Raudeberg. Nord-Vågsøy Church is located on the eastern edge of the village, right along the coast. Kvalheim
Kvalheim is a coastal village with large agricultural areas in Kinn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the western side of the island of Vågsøy, about west of the large village of Raudeberg.
